Umm Ali - Arabic dessert - Cooking Class (part 6 end)


Umm Ali is originally dessert comes form Egypt. Why this dessert called Umm Ali? Because who made this dessert is Ali's mother (Ummi Ali) funny isn't it? Hahahaha....

Umm Ali

Ingredient :
4 butter croissant (You can change with plain puff pastry)
4-5 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
200 ml milk
250 ml double cream
A handful toasted Almonds and hazel nuts (or any combination of nuts you prefer)
A handful raisins 
2 tsp vanila extract
2 tbsp cinnamon powder
A shot of Beileys (optional)


Preparation :
1. Preheat oven to 180C  and place croissant in oven dish to toast for 10 mints
2. In sauce pan bring the milk and sugar to the boil and add the vanilla extract and cinnamon powder.
3. Break up the toasted croissants, place in oven dish, sprinkle the nuts and raisins on top and add a second layer of croissants.
4. Pour the warm milk onto the croissants making sure the cover all the croissants. Place the dish in the oven and meanwhile heat up the cream in the sauce pan with the Baileys, again adding sugar to taste.
5. Remove the dish from the oven pour the warm cream bubbles and the dish is golden brown.
6. Serve warm and enjoy.
